South African Photovoltaic Industry Association (SAPVIA)

SAPVIA is a not for profit industry association that aims to promote the increased deployment of Solar PV technology in South Africa. SAPVIA was established in 2011 as part of a renewable energy industry commitment under the Green Economy Accord to provide coherent input to Government’s clean energy policy initiative. Currently SAPVIA has just over 170 members, operating across the entire PV value-chain.
SAPVIA is the representative voice of the solar PV industry in South Africa and the advocate for the technology. Driven by its values of consistency, cohesion and collaboration, the association’s vision is to ensure solar PV is the electricity generation technology of choice in South Africa and the rest of Sub-Saharan Africa, in support of the country’s socio-economic development targets.
Initially SAPVIA was focused mainly on the development of the utility scale market segment, however this focus has since shifted to include a strong focus on the development of the residential, commercial and industrial rooftop market.
